The Rebels The Rebels had one of the most dynamic performers as their lead singer, Essop Ganie. The group was one of the most popular bands in Durban and surrounding areas during the hey days of Rock Bands., performing primarily in shows where they were dynamic. The group was progressive. They were the first group in Durban to use wireless microphones which allowed Essop Ganie to wander into the audiences and wow them. They had success in a number of competitions including the South African Rock and Twist Band Contest.
